Building 549 (London Heathrow)

Building 549 was opened in 1996, as Heathrow's first new handling facility in twenty-three years. With a warehouse capacity of 42,000 sq ft and a pallet handling system (ETV) that provides an additional 10,000 sq ft, the facility is capable of handling over 75,000 tonnes of cargo per year.

The facility offers airside access and has the capacity to handle 120 ten-foot aircraft units, or their equivalent, at any one time. We have a cold store, capable of storing 2 main-deck pallet positions simultaneously, and a dedicated storage room for radioactive materials. Security cages are available in both the warehouse and the pallet handling system (ETV), together with 24 hour CCTV cameras covering the complete facility. We are also licensed to handle Section 5 firearms.

As well as providing the latest handling equipment, the services to customers are further enhanced with fully integrated communication systems for consignment handling/tracking and management information, which enables real time statistical information to be available at any time.

Cargo Point (London Heathrow - Virgin Atlantic cargo)

Cargo Point opened in 1998, with Sir Richard Branson performing the opening ceremony. The facility offers 125,000 sq ft of warehousing, together with 15,000 sq ft of offices - enabling 125,000 tonnes of cargo to be handled each year.

This single-user dedicated facility handles cargo for Virgin Atlantic. We have a secure area for vulnerable cargo, together with 24 hour CCTV cameras covering the complete facility. Cargo Point holds a license to handle Section 5 firearms. The facility also includes a 27 cubic metre refrigerator.

The latest in handling equipment, together with a fully integrated computer system and the ability to provide real time statistical information at any time enable us to offer our customers the highest level of cargo handling service.

South Point (London Heathrow - The Cathay Pacific cargo terminal)

South Point opened on 1st September 2001. The purpose built facility includes 55,000 sq ft of warehousing, together with 5,000 sq ft of office accommodation. With a capacity of 60,000 tonnes of cargo per year. South Point is a dedicated single-user facility, handling cargo solely for Cathay Pacific Airways.

Using specialised main-deck pallet build pits, South Point is capable of handling B747 main-deck Q7 pallets. The facility also includes a chiller/refrigerator, secure storage for vulnerable cargo and a dedicated storage room for radioactive material. CCTV cameras provide 24 hour coverage of the complete facility.

Radius Park (London Heathrow)

Radius Park opened in 1987. The facility offers a total warehouse capacity of 35,000 sq ft. Together with office accommodation of 10,000 sq ft, Radius Park is capable of handling 35,000 tonnes of cargo per year.

We offer the latest handling equipment, together with fully integrated communication systems for consignment handling/tracking. We can provide a security cage for vulnerable cargo, with 24 hour CCTV cameras covering the complete facility.

West Point

Plane Handling opened their fifth facility West Point at London Heathrow Airport on 10th July 2007. The facility is purpose built with state of the art technology.

West Point has a total warehouse capacity of 70,000 sq ft, with an additional 9,000 sq ft of office accommodation.  The facility is capable of handling 70,000 tonnes of cargo per annum.

West Point is Plane Handling’s second single user facility for Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Manchester

Plane Handling opened in Manchester in 1997. The operation here is seen as a central point for carriers who can now benefit from using Manchester as a strategic northern hub for goods originating from the North of England, Scotland and Ireland as well as those who fly in and out of the airport. The Manchester facilities - with airside access - provides 40,000 sq ft of warehousing and 4,000 sq ft of offices, giving the potential to handle 40,000 tonnes of cargo each year.

The facility offers a secure cage for valuable cargo together with 24 hour CCTV cameras covering the complete building. We hold a licence to handle Section 5 firearms. A specialised storage area for radioactive materials is located within the warehouse and cold storage is also available.

Glasgow

On 15th May 2000, a brand new Plane Handling facility opened in Glasgow. Offering 13,000 sq ft of warehousing, together with 2,000 sq ft of offices, the new facility is capable of handling 13,000 tonnes of cargo per year.

We offer a secure cage for valuable cargo, together with 24 hour CCTV cameras monitoring the complete facility. Storage is also available for hazardous cargo, with the exception of radioactive materials.
